SAFE!

I took this picture last month and was going to post it, but just forgot too.  The girl was in a run down between home plate and third base and it lasted a while before she went head first into third.  She was called safe, it was the first time that I saw someone make it back to a base during a rundown.  She lated scored on a two out hit up the middle, and what do you know was the winning the run.

Golden Light

I don't like to post two times in a day, but I had to post this image.  This is the golden light which last about 10 mins each night in summer.  I was lucky that it leaked into Huntington Park and was just on the pitcher as he pitched.  It lasted about 30 seconds before the sun went away.  I shoot it at 200ISO, 2.8 aperture, 1/8000 of a second at 7:13 pm.  Anyways, the dude got rocked tonight.  Enjoy.

He made the catch

Last month a posted a picture of an Ohio State baseball player trying to come up with a catch at the new Huntington Park in Columbus.  Well last night Mr. Michael Brantley made a diving catch in center field and it looks like his eyes are closed.  I am heading to the game tonight to find out the answer.  Brantley catch was nice, but my catch monday night in our slow pitch softball league was much better and way more graceful.  HAHA

Big Jake

So last night I ran into Big Jake, one of the coolest cats I know, downtown at gaswerks with a bunch of volleyball boys.  It always gets a little crazy when some of the volleyball guys get together, we just know how to party.  Jake was getting on me because there wasn't any pictures of him on my blog.  So I told him last night I would make a post just about him.  So here we go.

Big Jake is one of the most down to earth volleyball guys I know.  I don't think that I have ever seen the kid get mad, only when you talk about his 3 sisters. HAHA.  He tells some of the worst but best jokes around.  He is one of the guys who will always put a smile on your face and make fun of you when you do something dumb.  One of the best nights we had was on mothers weekend down in athens while I was still living in the Montrose house.  My mom was in town for the night and we has already been to the bars and came back to eat dinner and then go back out.  While we were eatting Big Jake called me and wanted to see what I was doing with my mom.  At the time he wasn't 21 and his mom was in town too and was trying to figure out what to do with his mom. He was also trying to pull his life together after blacking out twice the night before.  Anyways, I told him that there was still a cold keg from the party the night before that he should come on over with his mom.  So, Jake and his mom came over and we started to play beer pong with our moms.  Both moms had never played the game so it was interesting to see them shoot and play.  We never made it back to the bars everyone was having a blast and then out of no where two basketball players showed up at my house, James Bridgewater and Delvar Barrett, and wanted to play beer pong with us.  So it just ended up being Jakes and his mom, two basketball players and mom and me playing beer pong all night.  Anyways, I have some funny stories about this kid I could go on all day.  Jake is a great guy and a great friend.  Here are two pictures of Big Jake from the KC Volleyball National Championships in 2005. Enjoy Big Jake!

The Light

I had some extra time on Monday, my day off, so I went to the park with my sister and step-mother and carly.  Carly is long story, she is not my sisters kid but my sisters boyfriend kid.  She has become apart of our family now.  Anyways, more on that later.  I had a blast at the park and took some really good pictures.  So I have been told by Renee Sauer that she is starting a blog some time next week, lets see if this really happens. HAHA

Two best

I told you all that I was going to post my two best shots from the Memorial Tournament and here they are.  The one golfer picture of Jim Furyk was the lead picture on sports saturday morning and the other weather feature didn't even make the paper, which sucks.  So I had to pick up Furyk on Friday because he was making a run to the top of the leader board.  It was a bright and sunny day and decided to try and be different from everyone else and get something super close on my guy.  I will say it now, I got really lucky with the sun hitting the club and making a shine like that.  I took a picture a couple holes before this shot and saw the same shine on the club but wasn't as close.  So I kept on trying to get closer until it work and got this great picture.  As for the raining shot, it took me all day to find a picture like that. The sky was dark and was raining all day and I walked past it at first and then it hit me.  I took about 100 pictures in 5 mins at all different  settings waiting for the right picture.  Then the ball came to the hole and the guys started moving his hands and I got the picture.  Of course the paper didn't run it the next day, they ran two picture from two days ago in the metro section and it was sunny.  I didn't understand why they didn't want to use it, they didn't have a single raining picture in the day.  It was a gross and grey day but I took a picture that I really liked.

Back in Athens

I had a blast last weekend back in athens with Villa, Jeff, Trainor, Whitehead and all the boys still in Athens.  Its always good to get back to athens in the spring time, there is always some kinda of fest going on.  This year it was Mill-fest.  Its also great still being able to crash at one of the houses you lived at in college.  28 Montrose was still rocking like the old days.  Also got to love PRIMETIME, where else in the world can you get 4 blackout drinks and 2 bud lights for 10$
